This is the picture I took at Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. He is an one of the participants of IDFC, Hein Thu Soe (Henry).

    He wears the traditional costumes,”longyi” and a modern shirt. Before I came to Myanmar, I expected that many young people here wear clothes from western countries. But in reality, I was surprised to see many young people enjoying wearing traditional longyi with modern shirts. I got interested in their attempts to combine Ｍyanmar traditional clothes and latest fashion trend. In japan, very few people have opportunities to wear their traditional clothes “kimono” in daily lives.

    I interviewed a few of young people in Yangon with other participants. Through those interviews, I found that it is the new style of wearing longyi by the youth in Myanmar.The good combination of traditional longyi and new fashion seems to be creating the new values in the field of Myanmar fashion. I think people in Myanmar tend to put a great value on their culture and nationality.

     Another reason for the popularity of lighting is the comfortability people can feel when they have. In this way, I think that Myanmar traditional longyi will continue to be popular among people as a new style of fashion trend in this country. This is new value for me.
