This is the gap of school fees of university between Myanmar and Japan. In Japan national university, we have to pay about 500,000 yen for school fees per year. In the other side, in Myanmar, it takes only about 10,000 yen. It is about 50 times. I was very surprised when I hear about it from Myanmar participants. This is because if I buy 2 clothes in Japan, I can go to the university in Myanmar.

If I tell my parents the fact, they should be very surprised too, and say “You should go to the university in Myanmar!”

Of course, it is related with the gap of price. Specifically, 1MMK=JPY 0.0726.

There is also the big gap. When I go to shopping in Myanmar, I was always surprised the different of the price from Japan.

According to statics, Japan’s school fees very high and are ranked third in the world. This is because government support is not enough. So some poor family can’t go to school.

But the problem also happen in Myanmar. Japanese may feel the price is very cheap, but the average of annual income per year is about only 100,000 yen. So if they go to the university, they have to spend 1/3 of annual income the school fees of the university. As a result, the limited family can go there. This is a big problem.

In this way, I was very surprised the gap of the school fees. I learned a lot from financial perspective.

How do you think about this gap of school fees?
