How the art is appreciated in Japan
Htet Aung Lin
Honestly speaking, the use of chopsticks came from Chinese to Japan. In the early days, the chopsticks were made of bamboo and their ends were tied like 'trainer' chopsticks these days. They were mostly used in Japanese ceremonies in the past but now they are widely used at homes as a regular basis. Uniquely, Japanese chopsticks are shorter and taper to a fine point than other chopsticks. Nowadays, they are made from bamboo, wood, silver, gold and lacqured and integrated cultural paintings on them depict Japanese authentic atmosphere while using them. Most of Japanese chopsticks gifts sets are 'Meoto-Hashi'. In Japanese, 'Meoto' means a 'couple' and 'Hashi' means 'chopsticks'. We wish upon Meoto-Hashi and it means 'may a couple can be together forever by using Meoto-bashi together every day'.
Like Myanmar people appreciate cultural arts by painting upon saucers and small plates on which green-tea leaves salad are usually served.
